The University of California, Irvine invites applications and nominations for the position of professor and dean of The Paul Merage School of Business.  We seek a visionary and innovative leader with a distinguished record as an internationally recognized scholar.  Key selection criteria will include:
  • A strong academic record commensurate with appointment to the rank of full professor with tenure
  • Demonstrated success in leading a complex academic unit and dedicated to establishing a culture that promotes the growth and recruitment of an excellent and diverse faculty and student body
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the business community and other constituents in resource development, fundraising, and advancement of the school
  •  A strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education including the PhD program
  • Established success as an administrator, including faculty leadership, staff development, and fiscal and facility management
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and react to current complexities, including the political, financial, technological, and global challenges that public universities and business schools face today

Faculty Position in Economics/Public Policy

 

We are looking for candidates with a PhD in economics and outstanding research records in industrial organization, health care, and/or health economics.  The ideal candidate will show interest in business school teaching (including MBA-level microeconomics) as well as actively participating in the School’s Center for Health Care Management and Policy.  Salary and benefits will commensurate with prior performance and experience.

Position in John S. and Marilyn Long U.S.-China Institute for Business and Law Chair 

 

The Long Institute will be a premier research entity facilitating important relationships between U.S. and Chinese entities in the areas of commerce and law.  The Long Institute at UCI will create a bi-lateral, interactive, and public platform whereby Chinese and American scholars, industry leaders, policy makers and practitioners can connect, share ideas, and foster a broader understanding of the policy, business, legal and related social/economic challenges and opportunities that engage and affect them. 

 

The Long Chair in U.S. – China Business and Law will provide critical academic leadership to the Long Institute.  The Chair’s teaching, research and other work will relate to the goals and work of the Long Institute and may, with the approval of the University, also serve as Faculty Director of the Long Institute.  The Chair will have a joint appointment in the Law School and the Business School. While the leadership and governance of the Long Institute is jointly held between the Schools, the Long Institute will be multidisciplinary in scope and will seek ample interaction and collaboration not only between the professional schools, but also with various other relevant academic units and areas of the campus.   

 

  • Scholars with a background of global commerce and law, specifically in the China region are encouraged to apply
  • Applicants must hold a J.D. degree (or equivalent) and/or a Ph.D. in Business (with expertise in International Business) from accredited institutions.  Applicants must have demonstrated potential for outstanding research, teaching and scholarly achievements. An outstanding academic background and relevant professional experience in practice and fund-raising are also expected.

  • Salaries will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  An offer will involve a review for tenure in the professorial series.  Depending on the qualification of the final candidate, the appointment may be held with both schools or one primary school with a courtesy appointment with the other.

Faculty Position in Strategic Management

 

The Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine is seeking candidates to fill a new tenured faculty position as the Merage Chair in the Strategy area to begin July 1, 2012, subject to budget approval. 

 

Candidates should have a distinguished record of research and teaching excellence in the area of Strategy.  The Merage Chair in Strategy is expected to provide research leadership and to teach advanced classes in this subject area at both MBA and Ph.D. levels.

 

The Merage School is recognized internationally as being among the world’s top 50 business schools. Current faculty strategy members include Philip Bromiley, Yan Gong, Libby Weber, Margarethe Wiersema, and Yu Zhang.  The closely affiliated organizations group includes Christopher Bauman, Christine Beckman, Jone Pearce, Lyman Porter, Claudia Schoonhoven and Denis Trapido.
