Ed Grier is the President of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. A 25-year veteran of The Walt Disney Company’s theme park business, Ed leads the operation of the Disneyland Resort’s two theme parks, three hotels, and the Downtown Disney retail, dining and entertainment district. He was appointed to the position in July 2006.

In his role as President of the Disneyland Resort, Ed oversees a workforce of 20,000 Cast Members at the 506-acre resort, which comprises the world-famous Disneyland Park, Disney’s California Adventure Park, the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Paradise Pier Hotel, and Downtown Disney. He reports to Al Weiss, President of Worldwide Operations for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Ed began his career with Disney in 1981 as a Senior Auditor at Walt Disney World in Florida, and has held a number of executive positions throughout Walt Disney Parks and Resort. Prior to his current position, Ed served as Executive Managing Director of Walt Disney Attractions Japan, where he oversaw Disney operations for the Tokyo Disney Resort and managed the day-to-day relationship with the Oriental Land Company, which operates the two-park resort as a licensee.

During his two years in Japan, Ed played a key role in master planning the Tokyo Disney Resort, leading the Disney team that helped bring new attractions and entertainment spectaculars, as well as a new Cirque du Soleil theatre and a new Disney-branded hotel, both of which are expected to open in 2008. In addition, from Disney destinations around the world, Ed implemented best practices for Guest service and resort and financial operations.

Prior to his experience in Japan, Ed held various positions at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort Paris in France. In the early 1990s, Ed was part of an expatriate team that was assigned to Paris for one year to increase awareness of the resort throughout Europe.

In the early 1980s, Ed served on the pre-opening team for Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park, helping review operating budgets and negotiating operating support agreements with third-party participants. Ed later served as General Manager of Operations at Epcot and at Walt Disney World’s Disney-MGM Studios, with responsibility for the overall operational and financial performance of the two theme parks.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Ed earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He is a board member for CHOC Hospital in Orange County, California. Ed, his wife, Valerie, and their three sons live in Yorba Linda, California.
