Program Design

Our custom programs are crafted to have an immediate and strong, lasting impact on individuals, promoting positive change throughout organizations.

Your company’s key executives and managers will meet the Executive Education Team to understand the goals and key issues of intended audience and then consult with select members of The Paul Merage School of Business faculty to develop a comprehensive diagnosis of your business issues and craft the right training program. Together we develop a comprehensive program design including content, scheduling, and instructional resources.

The process is straightforward, and you participate in:
  • Identifying high-potential leaders
  • Diagnosing needs
  • Drafting program content and format
  • Reviewing program design
  • Finalizing program and faculty
  • Implementing the program

A program design proposal is then presented to your company's key personnel for their review, adjustments, and modifications. We then determine the best way and place for program delivery.

This process allows your company open and confidential communication with us. Each of your questions and/or concerns will be attended to thoroughly and privately.


Program Philosophy


Our program development philosophy is based on four key principles:
  1. Developing a close collaborative working relationship with our client to effectively understand and address their educational goals and needs.
  2. Designing an effective training and development program that is comprehensive, integrated and inclusive.
  3. Utilizing state of the art theories and approaches in leadership and executive education.
  4. Utilizing outstanding faculty for presenting program content.

Program Methodology


Course content will generally incorporate assessment tools, evaluation instruments and on-the-job application of classroom learning as well as simulated and group exercises that are relevant to the highlighted topics. Self-directed studies such as outside reading and research activities may also be utilized. Audio visual instructional aids and case studies may be included to provide supporting examples of key concepts and topics.

All required educational materials, books, handouts, and assessment tools, as well as preparation and development time, are provided as part of the program.

Course evaluations are also provided and will be completed by participants.

Program Content


Program content is customizable based on client needs, but will utilize the latest thinking and state of the art adult learning theory and practice.

Participants will learn about the latest relevant studies and findings in the field of leadership. Program participants will learn advanced concepts, skills, and techniques in ways that are memorable, fun, practical, and useful to program participant’s work experience. Training will involve innovative experiential simulations, structured activities, and case studies. Individuals will be afforded the opportunity to make critical decisions and evaluate the impacts of their decisions on events as they unfold. Content will be designed to challenge, energize, and engage all program participants.

Program Location and Format


Program Location is addressed based on the client’s needs.

The UC Irvine campus has state of the art executive education facilities and offers an ideal executive academic setting.  The UC Irvine campus is conveniently located in Irvine. We can also deliver programs at off-site locations to accommodate client preferences.

Exact program schedule and format will be coordinated with the client to accommodate executive needs and schedules. Executive Education will collaborate with the client to determine the most suitable program times for participants.
