Application Process
 

 

Step 1 Attend an Information Session - see Upcoming Sessions- or speak to an admissions representative at 949.824.0561.
Step 2 Schedule an Admissions Interview. Applicants are also welcome to visit the Merage School on Fridays or Saturdays for a class visit and to meet current students. Space is limited, so reservations are required. Please call 949.824.0561.

Submit your Online Application and Pay Application Fee

 

All application materials become the property of UC Irvine | The Paul Merage School of Business and cannot be returned, regardless of the Admissions Committee’s decision. Please retain copies of all submitted documents for your own records.

Step 5 Admissions Committee Review
You will typically receive a notification within 2-4 weeks after sending a complete application with all support documentation.

Admissions Interview

An admissions interview is a required part of the admissions process. The admissions interview will not only give you the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the school and specifically the Executive MBA program, but it will also allow us to learn more about you.

Official Transcripts


Two copies of your official transcripts from all previous universities or colleges attended. All transcripts must be received in their original sealed envelope and either hand-delivered or mailed to the EMBA Program Office.

International students: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized academic institution of acceptable standing is required.   Please refer to the
International Page for specific requirements or contact our office (949.824.0561).

Online Application Form

To apply, click on the Apply Online link at the top of this page. You will be asked to create an account with a user name and password. You can easily save your work and return to it at a later time to complete it.

You may submit your application prior to or on the deadline.  Our office will contact you via e-mail if any components are missing for your application.

Professional Résumé

We highly value your professional experience and career progression as an important criterion for admission to our Executive MBA program. 

 

Self-Evaluation Essays

There are two (2) required essays

Essay 1 (2 page maximum, double spaced)
Briefly describe your current role and responsibilities within your organization. What are your short and long term career objectives? How will an MBA from the Executive MBA Program or Health Care Executive MBA Program help you attain these objectives?

 
Essay 2 (2 page maximum, double spaced)
Describe a challenging business or management decision you have made. Discuss how it impacted your team, department and/or organization. If you were faced with the same challenge now, would you make the same decision again and why? 
 

Two Professional Letters of Recommendation

At least one letter should come from your current employer or supervisor, or from recent employers or supervisors.  It should contain specific and relevant details about your performance. We recommend that you submit these recommendations online. 

 GMAT or GRE

Although not required, the admissions committee encourages candidates to submit a GMAT or GRE score to demonstrate quantitative abilities, with the exception of candidates who hold a terminal degree such as a JD, MD or DDS and those candidates with a masters or PhD in quantitative subject.
 

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (International applicants only)

The minimum score required for admission for the Paul Merage School of Business is 600 for the paper-based test, 250 for the computer-based test, or 80 for the Internet-based test. TOEFL scores are valid for up to two years from your test date. Applicants may receive a waiver of the TOEFL if all of the requirements for the high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in a country where the primary and dominant language is English and English was the language of instruction of the school where the requirements were completed. Be sure to have your exam results sent to The Paul Merage School of Business Executive MBA Programs Office, institution code:  4859-02.  For more information on the TOEFL, visit: http://www.toefl.org/

 

Application Fee

The non-refundable application fee for the Executive MBA program is $150 paid by credit card. (The application fee is waived for active duty military and U.S. veterans, please call our office before submitting your application, 949.824.0561).
