Admission Requirements

Merage Graduates The EMBA program admits candidates who show the strongest potential to become successful members of the Merage network and outstanding global business leaders. We consider each applicant as an individual, both inside and outside the classroom, and welcome candidates from a wide variety of undergraduate disciplines.

Specifically, we review these factors:

Quantitative Measures

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Undergraduate GPA. An overall GPA of 3.0 or better is preferred. We require official transcripts from all universities and colleges.
  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). The GMAT is an optional component of the application. The GMAT exam is highly recommended for those applicants who are unable to demonstrate, either through past academic performance or work experience, sufficient strength in the areas of quantitative and analytical reasoning. Note that the Admission Committee may request some candidates to submit a GMAT score.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Required if the language of instruction at your undergraduate university was not English.

Qualitative Measures

  • Work Experience. A minimum of eight years of professional work experience is required. Candidates are evaluated chiefly through work experience.
  • Current Resume. Provided before your personal interview, the Admissions Staff requires a resume to evaluate your work experience and accomplishments.
  • Self-Evaluation Essays. Three essays are required. They are specifically explained and detailed in the online application process.
  • Interview. Every candidate is required to complete an interview with an admissions representative. This helps you determine if our program is the right fit for you, and helps us determine if you’re the right fit for our program.
  • Letters of Recommendation. Two letters of recommendation are required for every candidate—at least one should be from a current or former supervisor. The recommendations should provide clear evidence of your leadership skills, experience and potential for advancement. Using a form, your recommenders will rate your analytical ability, leadership ability, problem solving skills, motivation/initiative, and potential for career advancement. If you have been referred by an alum of the Merage School of Business, you should include a letter of recommendation from the alum in addition to the two required letters of recommendation. Applicants referred by an alum will have the application fee waived.
