Brief Bio
David Blake served as dean of The Paul Merage School of Business from 1997 to 2002, and has served as dean at three other schools – Northeastern University, Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey, and Southern Methodist University.

He has written extensively on the international political economy and multinational corporations, and contributed to notable journals such as The Journal of International Business Studies and Colombia Journal of World Business.

Professor Blake has authored or co-authored seven books and monographs, one being The Politics of Global Economic Relations, which helped define the field of international political economy. His other major publications include Managing the External Relations of Multinational Corporations, and Social Auditing.

He has served as an advisor on global business strategies and leadership development for a number of major U.S. corporations including Alcoa, AT&T, Exxon, IBM, and Marsh. He has also served on more than 16 corporate boards.

Professor Blake served as president of AACSB-International, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which is the professional association for leaders of business schools.  He is currently a member of the board of governors of Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business school honor society.

  • Served as an advisor on global business strategies and leadership development for a number of major U.S. corporations, including Alcoa, AT&T, Exxon, IBM, Marsh, and Mead Corp as well as the U.S. State department and various international organizations
  • Served on 16 corporate boards, including both NYSE and NASDAQ companies and smaller technology-based companies.
  • Dean of the UC Irvine Graduate School of Management (now known as The Paul Merage School of Business) from Oct. 1, 1997 to July 2002.
  • Served as president of AACSB-International, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, the professional association for leaders in management education.
  • Selected for Fast Company magazine’s first group of “Fast 50” champions of innovation (2002)--acknowledged as a leader who creates value through the power of his ideas, the intensity of his commitment and the authenticity of his character.
