Tim Stanley is currently the Executive Director for the Center for Digital Transformation (http://merage.uci.edu/go/cdt) and an Adjunct Professor / Lecturer at the Merage School of Business who created and teaches the popular EDGE Capstone MBA/EMBA course (http://edge.merage.uci.edu) at the University of California Irvine (UCI).
Prior to leading the new CDT at UCI, Tim was the CXO / SVP of Enterprise Strategy, Industries and Innovation at Salesforce.com’s global HQ in San Francisco. Prior to joining Salesforce, Tim founded and remains the President/CEO of Tekexecs – a board level and executive advisory service and consultancy. Tim also founded and was the CXO of Innovatects – a business innovation and technology incubator and investment group, and CXOCo - a professional services firm. He is currently actively involved in several public and private company board of directors and advisory roles, and as an angel and venture capital investor and advisor to a variety of innovative companies across multiple industries and geographies.
Previously, Tim was the Chief Innovation Officer, CIO/CTO and the Senior Vice President of Innovation, Gaming & Technology for Caesars / Harrah’s Entertainment, responsible for many of the award winning innovations and initiatives that enabled the company to grow into the largest global casino, hospitality and entertainment company in the world. Before joining Harrah’s, Tim was a partner with consulting firms USWeb and marchFIRST, where he developed and led the Travel & Entertainment practice for the firms, working with several leading airline, hospitality, travel and gaming clients around the world. Prior to that role, he was the startup CIO for jetBlue Airways and National Airlines, where he launched the companies on innovative platforms of Internet / Cloud based IT applications, infrastructure and operations. He has also held various leadership positions in the U.S. and overseas in the areas of marketing, operations, IT, R&D and consulting with Intel Corporation, Optima/KPMG, and Kimberly-Clark Corporation. Tim began his career as a U.S. Air Force officer, responsible for the first Global Positioning System (GPS) integration efforts in the US and abroad, and as a program manager for the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) 'Star Wars' programs.
Tim and his teams have been recognized with many awards, including Information Week’s “Chief of the Year” for his unique Innovation, Business and IT roles and achievements. He has also been recognized as one of InfoWorld’s “Top 25 CTOs,” Interactive Week’s “Top 25 Unsung Heroes of the Internet”, received CIO’s “100 Innovators Award” and CIO Insight’s “Partners in Alignment” award for his successful linkage of business strategy and technology. Tim also led Caesars/Harrah’s to achieve the “CIO 100” award multiple times; Computerworld’s “Best Places to Work in IT” for nine consecutive years; and the American Business Awards “Best MIS & IT Organization”.
Tim holds an MBA in International Business and Technology Management from the Thunderbird Graduate School of Management and Arizona State University, and a BS degree in Engineering from the University of Washington.
