This beautiful
architectural and cultural icon offers year-round entertainment. Just a few miles away from the Merage School, the Orange County Performing Arts Center is the place to go if you want to catch the latest
Broadway play or musical, be serenaded by the sounds of the
symphony or enjoy the Cabaret Series in the Jazz Club. And nearby Los Angeles is home to the
Shubert, Pantages and
Ahmanson theaters, as well as many ground-breaking smaller theaters.
For
hot concerts and
summer symphonies, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater is the place to be. Located in Irvine, California, it is also just minutes away from the Merage School. The
House of Blues-Anaheim is located in the Downtown Disney District, next to Disneyland, while the famous
Coach House in San Juan Capistrano offers concerts and an optional dinner menu. To the north in
Hollywood, you can check out famous venues such as the
Roxy and
Whiskey A Go-Go as you walk down the
Sunset Strip.
Located just a few miles from the Merage School in historic downtown Santa Ana, the Bowers Museum is one of Orange County's largest and most beautiful museums. In addition to hosting
world class art and cultural exhibitions, it is also a popular choice for weddings. To the north, in Los Angeles, the recently renovated
Getty Museum offers spectacular grounds and views as well as extraordinary artwork. Other area museums include the
Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) which contains more than 100,000 works, and the
Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) which features a stunning exterior building design that is a work of art in itself.
Located in the coastal community of San Juan Capistrano about a half an hour south of the Merage School, you can find the
oldest church in California and enjoy the rich history of the Mission San Juan Capistrano. Founded in 1776 on the Feast of All Saints by Spanish missionaries, the Mission and its beautiful grounds is also a
destination for migrating swallows. Every spring, around the 19th of March, the world pauses momentarily and focuses on that compelling phenomenon of nature — the return of the Swallows to Capistrano.
Richard Nixon was proud to call the city of Yorba Linda in Orange County his home. In fact, he was even born here. Located just 15 minutes from Disneyland, the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace is
a showcase of half a century of California, U.S. and world history. This nine-acre, three-dimensional walk-through features a 52,000 square foot museum, 22 high-tech galleries, movie and interactive video theaters, the
spectacular First Lady's Garden, the President's faithfully restored 1910 birthplace, and the flower-ringed memorial sites of President and Mrs. Nixon.
