Kenny Lin MBA Class of 2010 kenneth.lin@uci.edu
Kenny Lin is a second year Full-Time MBA candidate at The Paul Merage School of Business. He decided to attend business school to transition into a new career and is concentrating his studies on Finance and Strategy. He is President of the Financial Management Association and VP Finance for the Merage Consulting Association. Kenny is also VP Finance for the Merage Golf Club.
Prior to attending Merage, Kenny earned a B.S in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego and a M.S in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. Kenny worked as a Lead Product Engineer for Northrop Grumman, Space Technology in Redondo Beach, CA. His responsibilities included managing a cross-functional team to design and manufacture electronic packages for spacecraft applications.
Kenny chose to attend Merage for both personal and professional reasons. As an Irvine native, he recognized the benefits to living in Orange County. Not only does Orange County provide the weather and activities for his active lifestyle, but more and more corporations are expanding into the area. As a world-class business school in Orange County, Merage attracts many of the corporations in the area. Lastly, Kenny’s interactions with the Merage community helped make his final decision to attend Merage. The close connections and cohesiveness built from the social and academic events help build relationships for the future. The small class sizes are intentional to create this type of atmosphere. As a career-changer, Kenny searched for a supportive community that would support his transition.
Outside of the classroom, Kenny enjoys surfing, golfing, traveling and volunteering his time. Kenny takes advantage of the intramural sports program at UC Irvine and actively participates in many of the competitive sports leagues with his classmates. Kenny is also active in his community. He has recently started a MATHCOUNTS chapter at an underprivileged middle school and now acts as a mentor, tutor and math coach.
This past summer, Kenny interned as an Analyst with MAP Alternative Asset Management in Newport Beach, CA.
