  One Day in Finance Class

I have a strong background in finance. So when I took my first finance class at the Merage School, I felt pretty confident that the material would be along the lines of what I had learned before. But the professor was incredible – he gave us really organized content about finance and to my surprise – I learned many new things.

My classmates and I worked on various projects involving complex financial analysis and models. It was very reassuring to know that our professor was extremely accessible – he was always available to answer our questions. Also, I found that these projects inspired me to consider things I had never thought about before. This experience has really opened a window for me.

My Dream Internship

The Merage School MBA Career Center played a key role in helping me obtain the internship of my dreams. I also received a lot of help from my fellow classmates and second-year students. The MBA Career Center coordinated several panels featuring industry experts as well as second-year students. Hearing about their experiences gave me invaluable insight. And as an international student, I gained a clearer perspective on American business and culture.

My internship at Pacific Life has far exceeded my expectations. I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity. My background is in asset management. But here, I am learning to use different instruments – for example, credit analysis – an area in which I had no prior experience. Also, working everyday in beautiful Newport Beach, I feel like I really live here now.

  A Caring Faculty and Staff

This is my first time studying abroad. I had spent all my life in Taiwan. Now, I am in a new environment with new people. And I can say even with all of these changes, I feel very comfortable studying here. The staff at the Merage School is very accessible – and they’re really nice. And the professors continually challenge us to think. They have given me more confidence in the language and more confidence to live and work here – I feel that I can learn what I want to learn and that everyone here wants to help me succeed.
