Grant Seaton MBA Class of 2011 gseaton@uci.edu
Grant Seaton is a second year Full-Time MBA candidate and Merage Fellow focusing on General Management and Marketing. Originally from Claremont, CA, he is a graduate of John Muir College at the University of California, San Diego with a BA in Economics and a minor in Communication.
Prior to coming to Merage, Grant spent four years in the mutual fund industry with The American Funds Service Company, a subsidiary of The Capital Group Companies in Irvine, CA. His work focused on the support, development, and training of new-hire associates in the shareholder services department, an experience he credits as one of his greatest leadership challenges prior to pursuing his MBA. In his spare time, he worked with a variety of non-profit organizations including The Children's Bureau of Orange County and The Todd Anglin Home for Children, an orphanage and protection center in Managua, Nicaragua. He also developed a passion for public speaking while serving as President of a local Toastmasters Club.
Grant chose the Merage School for its extraordinarily tight-knit community and the student body's enthusiasm for the program. The small class size further contributes to the Merage experience, one that offers superior academics, close attention from faculty and the Career Center, and countless social events. Merage is set apart by the fact that its students and alumni belong to a life-long "club", one that runs like a world-class professional network, but feels more like a family.
In addition to being a Student Ambassador, Grant is the President of the Merage Student Association. Outside of school, he is an avid golfer, runner, and guitar player. He loves traveling with his friends and family and dining at Orange County's many Mexican restaurants.
This summer Grant interned with Mattel Inc's Corporate Staffing department, helping to launch an Employment Branding initiative.
