  Small Community, Big Impact

My criteria for choosing an MBA program included three key elements: small class size, location and high quality curriculum. UC Irvine’s Merage School fit perfectly because it offers a personalized learning environment and outstanding faculty; the location in Irvine is ideal; and the MBA program continues to offer incomparable opportunities for networking. The Merage School’s stellar reputation speaks to the commitment of the faculty and staff to consistently raise the bar on the academic quality and global reach of the MBA experience, while preparing graduates to make a significant impact on the business world.

Embracing a New Life in Orange County

As an international student, I was a little intimidated at first to move to a new environment, but I quickly realized that the people in Orange County are warm and welcoming. The city is beautiful, clean and safe, with easy access to shopping, the beach, Disneyland and a wide range of recreational opportunities. In minutes, I can be out on my bike on Shady Canyon Trail or surfing in Huntington Beach.

“Working in a diverse group has helped me develop strong team-building skills, grow as a leader and built my understanding of how to thrive in a global business environment.”

Diversity Paves the Path to Understanding

The Merage MBA program is prized for its diversity of people and ideas. In addition to a healthy balance of men and women, the student body is comprised of different ethnicities, professions, beliefs, ages and preferences that contribute unique perspectives to the educational experience.

This diversity is also beneficial on a smaller scale. Coming from Mexico, I was excited to learn from classmates from different places. The four students in my work group range from 22 to 29 years old and come from all over, from California to China. Our professional backgrounds span from medical backgrounds to big-name accounting firms to city planning offices. Working in a diverse group has helped me develop strong team-building skills, grow as a leader and built my understanding of how to thrive in a global business environment. It has made the whole MBA experience richer, both individually and collectively.
