General Questions About the HCEMBA Program

   Yes. All Merage MBA students receive identical MBA degrees, and the same internationally renowned faculty teaches all MBA programs.
 
   The HCEMBA program is specifically designed for health care professionals who want to gain business expertise. While the course titles are the same as the Executive MBA program, many courses use health care subjects as examples.
 
  

Classes meet one weekend per month, from Thursday at 7:00 pm through Sunday at noon. (3) off-site learning residentials are required. These include a 5 day opening residential; a weeklong residential on Federal Policy in Healthcare midway through the program; and a final 5 day Executive Leadership residential.

 
  

The Health Care Executive MBA Program is 24 months long. It starts in September every year and ends 24 months later in August. Acceleration is possible.

 
   Merage HCEMBA students spend an average of 15-20 hours a week outside the classroom on individual assignments and group projects.
 
  

The HCEMBA entering class will be between 25-30 students.

 
   You are not required to have an undergraduate degree in the business area. The Merage School recruits and admits individuals from a broad range of academic and professional backgrounds, many of whom have advanced or doctoral degrees.
 
  

The total cost for the 2012-2014 HCEMBA Program is $103,600 or $12,950 per quarter. There are 4 quarters in the first year of the program, and 4 in the second year. Tuition includes registration,fees, textbooks and materials,course software, parking, lodging during all three residentials, and meals while on campus.

 
   Yes. Financial aid is not based on need. A number of financial aid opportunities are available, including government and private loans. See Financial Aid for more information.
 
  

Yes. We encourage you to contact us at any time and attend an information session or schedule a personal consultation to find out more about the program. Information sessions are regularly held and consultations are by appointment. Please call 949-824-0561 to set up an appointment.

 
  

In addition to having a 4 year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University, it is important to demonstrate competence in analytical skills in your application, either through undergraduate math courses or your GMAT score. We also recommend students have a working knowledge of Excel prior to starting the program.

 



General Application Questions

 

  

Students must have the equivalent of a 4-year Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University and 5 years work experience, preferably in healthcare. GMAT results may be requested. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results may be required if the language of instruction at your undergraduate university was not in English.

 
  

The application fee is $150.  We waive the application fee for veterans and current members of the U.S. military.

 
  

The Admissions committee takes into consideration the candidate's professional background, including progression in your career, academic preparedness, accomplishments and strong interpersonal skills.

The GMAT/GRE is not required. The GMAT or GRE exam may be requested by the admissions committee for those applicants who are unable to demonstrate, either through past academic performance or work experience, sufficient strength in the areas of quantitative and analytical reasoning.

 
  

Two professionalletters of recommendation are required for every application. At least one letter should come from your current employer or supervisor, or from a recent employer or supervisor. If you are a CEO or entrepreneur, a letter from a colleague or client would be appropriate. We recommend that you submit these recommendations online. If you have been referred by an alumnus of the Merage School of Business, you should include a letter of recommendation from the alumnus in addition to the two required letters of recommendation.
