General Questions About the HCEMBA Program

Yes. All Health Care Executive MBA students receive a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

The HCEMBA program is specifically designed for health care professionals who want to gain business expertise. Students are clinicians, professionals, entrepreneurs, and executives who work exclusively in the health care industry. While many course titles similar to the Executive MBA program, courses use health care case studies. Additionally, special topics courses are often health care focused and HCEMBA students take a week long residential course in Washington D.C. to learn about how health care policy is developed in our nation.

Classes meet one weekend per month, from Thursday at 7:00 pm through Sunday at noon. (3) off-site learning residentials are required. These include a 5 day opening residential; a weeklong residential on Federal Policy in Healthcare midway through the program; and a final 5 day Executive Leadership residential.

The Health Care Executive MBA Program is 21 months long. It starts in September every year and ends 21 months later in June.

Merage HCEMBA students spend an average of 15-20 hours a week outside the classroom on individual assignments and group projects.

The HCEMBA entering class will be between 30-35 students.

You are not required to have an undergraduate degree in the business area. The Merage School recruits and admits individuals from a broad range of academic and professional backgrounds, many of whom have advanced or doctoral degrees.
