This three page Business Week article starts out painting an effective picture of how academic institutions can lead cross-functional efforts to address big societal issues. Then it describes one effort that UC, Berkeley students took on that raised the challenges of not just ideation and product development…but, the range of disciplines required to achieve real results in the global marketplace and the challenges of influence without authority. For the executive reading this article, it wasn’t until the very end of the article that four “take away” for business leaders were briefly outlined.
