Professor Erickson discussed how organizational practices have evolved over the past several centuries, each in response to the challenges posed by the specific environment of the time. She explored five contemporary changes that require new leadership approaches: changes in the way value is created, the way work is organized, how work is managed and integrated, how organizations relate to those who work, and the fundamental nature of the tomorrow’s workforce.

Nicholas Carr



Nicholas Carr writes about technology and culture.  He is the author of the acclaimed book The Glass Cage: How Our Computers Are Changing Us, which examines the personal and social consequences of our ever growing dependency on computers, robots, and apps. His previous work, The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains, was a 2011 Pulitzer Prize finalist and a New York Times bestseller. His new book, Utopia Is Creepy, will be published in the summer of 2016.

Supervisory Special Agent Jensen Penalosa has been a Special Agent with the FBI since 2005. SSA Penalosa is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from California State University, Fullerton. Prior to entering on duty with the FBI, SSA Penalosa was employed by FileNet Corporation as a software engineer. From 2012 to 2014, SSA Penalosa supervised the FBI Cyber Crime Squad embedded in the Los Angeles Electronic Crimes Task Force in Los Angeles. SSA Penalosa is currently assigned to the Orange County Resident Agency, where he supervises the Cyber Squad that is responsible for conducting counterterrorism, counterintelligence and criminal cyber investigations.


Chris Wilson

Cyber Program Manager -  Joint Regional Intelligence Center, SRA International


Chris Wilson is a civilian contractor with SRA International assigned as the Cyber Program Manager and Lead Cyber Intelligence Analyst at the Los Angeles Joint Regional Intelligence Center currently doing cyber awareness outreach within the Central District of California. Mr. Wilson is a Certified Cyber Incident Handler (GCIH) with a Bachelor of Arts in Near Eastern Studies—Arabic Language from the University of California, Berkeley and completing a Master of Science in Telecommunications with a focus on cyber security of energy communication networks at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Mr. Wilson is recently retired from Active Duty, US Air Force as a Senior Intelligence Officer working cyber-threat intelligence analysis and military law enforcement investigations.


Cherie J. Kono

Los Angeles Program Director, InfraGard

  Cherie Kono is stationed at the Joint Regional Intelligence Center (JRIC), the Los Angeles Fusion Center, as the Program Director for the InfraGard Los Angeles Program. Additionally at the JRIC she sits on the JRIC Cyber Program, JRIC Internship Board, and assists with the JRIC Critical Infrastructure Protection Working Group. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine with studies in Public Health.



Frederick J. Simon

FBI Special Agent & Assistant Coordinator- InfraGard, The Federal Bureau of Investigation


Special Agent Frederick J. Simon has been with the FBI for over 16 years. During this time he has been assigned to a variety of squads where he worked on International and Domestic Terrorism, Espionage, and a variety of violent crimes. SA Simon has also served as an Interrogator in GTMO, an Evidence Technician for the FBI's Evidence Response Team, and has traveled overseas to represent the FBI. He is currently the Assistant Coordinator of the Los Angeles InfraGard Program.

Summers has consulted with dozens of Fortune 500 companies, specializing in governance, program management and SOC/CIRT development.
