Mentoring Relations in Knowledge-Intensive Industries

The project’s ambition is to contribute to knowledge on mentoring in two distinct aspects. First, the project examines how the success of a mentoring relation depends on the principles of matching mentors to protégés. To this end, I designed a survey, first distributed to the participants of the CGL mentoring program in December 2009. The survey will develop into an ongoing data collection effort. Second, the project asks why some protégés become intellectual clones of their mentors while others develop an ability to generate original, innovative ideas. I will examine this question with data from industrial or educational settings, or from both.
