President and CEO
Robert S. Brunswick is the Founder and President of Buchanan Street Partners, a real estate investment bank with a diversified service platform encompassing the spectrum of equity, debt and investment real estate needs. Through his keen sense of market cycles, astute direction and focused leadership, Buchanan Street Partners is today noted as one of the preeminent real estate investment banks headquartered in California, successfully operating in markets throughout the United States.
Buchanan Street Partners is recognized as a leading firm that makes principal investments on behalf of private, corporate and institutional investors and provides fee based real estate finance advisory and property sales services for developers and owners. Since its inception, Buchanan Street has completed more than $12.8 billion in debt and equity financing transactions, investment sales and principal investments. The company's current investment portfolio is approximately $2 billion and fully diversified nationally and reflects a balance between retail office, industrial and multi-family projects.
Active in the commercial real estate industry since 1981, Mr. Brunswick has served as a pension fund advisor, development principal and financial and investment intermediary. The early 1990s saw Mr. Brunswick distinguish himself as a true entrepreneur when he founded Pacific Union Realty Finance – the predecessor organization that evolved into Buchanan Street Partners – and directed the company's service focus toward commercial real estate investment and finance.
In alignment with Buchanan Street Partner's organizational values of "Knowledge, Teamwork, Integrity and Results," Mr. Brunswick established the Buchanan Foundation and a signature, annual real estate summit. The Foundation's centerpiece is a high-profile charity event coordinated by the firm each year to raise money for children's causes, garnering donations and sponsorships from the firm, peers, clients and many of the nation's leading financial institutions and commercial real estate companies. The real estate summit, hosted by Buchanan Street Partners, features presentations from business and policy leaders on a variety of issues important to the industry.
Mr. Brunswick holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and has completed Berkeley's Haas Business School Executive Management Program. He currently serves on the Leadership Council of the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate, and his professional affiliations include membership in the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and in 2005 was named Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year.
