Sarah is a first year full-time MBA candidate. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to coming to Merage, Sarah managed corporate relations for a consulting company that specialized in preventing workplace violence risk. She has been involved with numerous non-profit and charity organizations centered around her two greatest passions: youth literacy and improving care for cancer patients. Sarah is focusing her studies at Merage in strategy and healthcare, and is driven by her passion to work with companies to promote a profitable healthcare system driven by improving the quality of patient care. Sarah will join OnCURE Medical Corp. as a Business Development and Marketing Intern this summer.

Lauren is a first year full-time MBA candidate. She holds a Bachelor degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Sociology and a minor in Spanish. Previously, Lauren worked at Kaiser Permanente in Northern California on their implementation project to transition to an electronic medical record. At Kaiser, she gained vast exposure to both the clinical and business processes of a large managed care operation. She is excited to continue to pursue a career in the healthcare industry upon graduation in June 2009. Lauren will join Beckman Coulter as a Health Policy and Reimbursement Policy Intern this summer.

John Nhieu is an ‘09 Full-time MBA student at the Paul Merage School of Business concentrating in Finance and Strategy. Before he came to UC Irvine, he was a Senior Manager at The Hertz Corporation managing cross-functional teams, developing business strategy, and essentially leading a business organization. John graduated from The University of California, Berkeley with a double major in Economics and Mass Communications as well as a minor degree in Business Administration. With great enthusiasm and interest in Finance and Strategy, he plans to switch careers into the health care industry and take on a consulting role upon graduation.

Brenda is a first year full-time student at the Paul Merage School of Business. Prior to attending UC Irvine, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at UC Davis, and then worked in the Biotech industry in the San Francisco Bay Area as a Quality Control analyst. As the lead QC analyst at Calypte Biomedical and Novartis, she managed the in-process and release testing of the company’s prime diagnostic and biopharmaceutical products. Upon graduation, Brenda plans to pursue a career in the Biotech industry in product management and marketing. She will be interning at Beckman Coulter this summer as a Marketing and Strategy intern in the Industrial Particle Characterization business unit. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and running.

Marcus is a first year full-time MBA candidate. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California San Diego. Prior to attending Merage, Marcus worked for a small start up pharmaceutical company. In the company he worked in both the research and operations side of the firm. Marcus has experience managing NIH grants and working with Angel and VC investors to secure funding for research. Upon graduation, Marcus plans to pursue a career in the healthcare industry in product management. Marcus will join Johnson & Johnson (ASP) as a Market Research Intern this summer.
