Higher education is constantly evolving and so too is the Merage School. Today, armed with a powerful mission to enhance socially-responsible, sustainable growth, we are developing leaders who have the potential to add significant value to their professions and to society as a whole. We are doing this through the introduction of innovative new programs, enhanced delivery of learning, and actual physical expansion of our school.
Together with The Henry Samueli School of Engineering, classes begin this fall for the new Master of Science in Engineering Management program designed for those who seek core elements of an MBA program plus graduate courses in engineering.
George Kalogridis, president of the Disneyland Resort, will be leading off the 2012-2013 Distinguished Speakers Series (DSS) on November 29th, 6:30 p.m., at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.
A seasoned executive, Kalogridis oversees nearly 23,000 Cast Members who work at the Disneyland Resort. Comprised of more than 500-acres in Anaheim, California, the resort includes Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel and Downtown Disney.
Kalogridis began his career at Walt Disney World in 1971 as a busboy at the Contemporary Resort. Throughout his 40 years with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, he has held numerous executive positions, gaining a breadth of experience from all aspects of the operation.

Schwab Pledges $500,000 Toward the Creation of a Trading Floor
The Merage School is set to break ground on the new Business School building early in 2013. Excitement is in the air for the new 47,000 square foot, state-of-the-art structure poised to usher in an evolution in business education and several campaigns are underway to secure its success. One of those is a special $300,000 Friends of Lyman Porter Campaign, designed to recognize Porter's lasting impact on students and others he came into contact with. The Lyman Porter Campaign will fund a Colloquial Room with a breathtaking outdoor terrace for pre- and post-function events.
Andrea Licata, an undergraduate business major at the Merage School, also known as Miss Fountain Valley, won the Academic and Scholastic Achievement Award for her outstanding performance in academics at the 2012 Miss California Pageant on June 30 in Fresno, CA.
UC Irvine School of Medicine Adds $30,000 Life Sciences Invitational Award
The 2013 Business Plan Competition at the Merage School, one of the nation's premier business plan competitions open to all UC Irvine students, staff and researchers, will get underway November 13, 2012 at the UC Irvine Student Center.
In Second Season, Program Opens to Both Boys and Girls
What started as a one-week pilot program dedicated to helping underserved girls, has expanded into a two-part residential offered to both boys and girls entering 8th and 9th grade. Dedicated to helping underserved kids by teaching them life skills in money and investment management, The Financial Literacy Summer Residential Program, launched by the Merage School's Center for Investment and Wealth Management (CIWM) in 2011, has doubled in size due to the overwhelming demand and impressive response from the community.
