FOR ALL MERAGE SCHOOL GRADUATES:

PLEASE NOTE:  Our Commencement Ceremony is conducted differently than other school ceremonies and many of the procedures are different. Please follow all instructions below and those emailed to you by your Merage School Program Office (NOT those instructions from UCIAA).  Contact us if you have any questions.
 
NO GUEST TICKETS NEEDED:
Unlike some other schools' ceremonies, no guest tickets are needed for the Merage School ceremony. Please see our FAQ page for more information.   

NATIONAL ANTHEM SINGER:  Please see the directions on the UC Irvine Commencement website to sign up before April to audition to sing the National Anthem at our ceremony.

STUDENT SPEAKER: The Merage School is pleased to invite auditions for a graduating student speaker to represent the Class of 2016. Please download the Student Commencement Speaker Instructions for 2016 early to meet the initial March 31, 2016 deadline.

SHOUT OUT SELFIE VIDEO: Let’s have some fun and film a shout out to your guests on your big day. While you are outside the Bren Center lining up for the procession, we’ll show all the Shout Out Videos to the audience inside the Bren Center so everyone can hear and see you thank your loved ones for their support. Videos are due May 13, 2016. Learn more here.

UNDERGRADUATE INSTRUCTIONS

 
CAP & GOWN PURCHASING AND PICKUP:  Undergraduates participating in Commencement are required to purchase their Cap and Gown through UCIAA.  See the UCI Alumni Association website for more information and pricing. All undergraduate gowns must be purchased at Grad Expo, April 26-April 29, 2016.
 

CAP & GOWN AFTER GRADUATION: Undergrad regalia is non-returnable; your cap, tassel and gown are yours to keep.

CEREMONY CHECK IN TIME: Please plan to arrive no later than 12:30pm. Signs at the Bren Center will direct you where to meet for class photos and procession lineup by the tennis courts. Please wear your cap and gown. Your class will be asked to split up into two lines for the procession. Grads are in no particular order so you can sit with your friends to celebrate the day. See the FAQ page to help your guests know where to look for you.

PHOTOS:  GradImages is the official event photographer that will be taking several different shots of each graduate. Starting in May 2016, you can pre-register to receive more information at www.GradImages.com; search on "Irvine" and select the Merage School.
 

MASTERS PROGRAMS INSTRUCTIONS

 
CAP & GOWN RENTAL ORDERING:  All graduates must have proper regalia to participate in the ceremony. MBA regalia orders should be placed online between February 15 and March 15, 2016: CAP & GOWN DISTRIBUTION: Your Masters Degree Program Office will contact you with instructions when regalia is ready to be picked up at your Program Office (approximately June 1). All graduates must have proper regalia to participate in the ceremony. Please download instructions on how to wear the regalia.

GOWN & HOOD RENTAL RETURNS: Your cap and tassel are yours to keep; gowns and hoods must be returned immediately after the ceremony in one of the drop boxes outside the Bren Center. Any rentals not returned directly after the ceremony will be assessed a $400 fee.

CEREMONY CHECK IN TIME: Please plan to arrive no later than 12:30pm. Signs at the Bren Center will direct you where to meet for class photos and procession lineup by the tennis courts. PHD INSTRUCTIONS

HOODING CEREMONY IS ON JUNE 13: Although the University holds a graduate hooding ceremony, the traditional Hooding Ceremony for Merage School PhD candidates takes place on stage at our Commencement Ceremony.

CEREMONY CHECK IN TIME
: Please plan to meet in the Koll Room (lower level of the Bren Center) no later than 1:30 pm for hooding and pictures.  PhD graduates march in the procession with the faculty and sit in the front row facing the stage.
