Lori Hwangbo MBA Class of 2011 lhwangbo@uci.edu
Lori Hwangbo is a second year student in the Full-Time MBA program focusing on Human Resources. She is Co-President of Challenge for Charity and is a member of the Human Resources/Organizational Behavior Club as well as Women in Business.
After graduating from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science, Lori worked in the Adviser Marketing area of Capital Group Companies, parent company to American Funds. While there, she supported financial advisers in providing products to match client needs. She also coached and mentored new associates while implementing company initiatives to further define its marketing approach.
Lori chose the Merage School because it has created the perfect environment for its students to reach success. It is an intimate environment where relationships, collaboration and teamwork are highly emphasized and faculty, staff and students are all easily accessible and helpful. The Paul Merage School of Business is well respected both within the Orange County community (second largest county in California, the eighth largest economy in the world) but also outside of it. For this reason amongst others, there is no shortage of opportunities for Merage students.
Outside of the classroom, Lori trains for half marathons, spends way too much time at the beach, travels, volunteers and enjoys food and music with friends and family.
Last summer, Lori was a Value Engineering Business Manager at Beckman Coulter. She created an internal marketing communications plan for a corporate engineering group and developed a company-wide employee suggestion and rewards program. Lori is continuing with Beckman Coulter this school year in the Global Talent Acquisition Group of HR.
