Executive Director

Jack Hsu joined the Long Institute in 2011 as Executive Director. In this role, he is tasked with providing leadership in the development of this premier research and educational Institute designed to further the knowledge and dissemination of research regarding US and China best practices in business and law.

Jack's prior experience includes industry-leading financial services companies such as PIMCO, AIG Investments and CBRE Investors where he spent more than 10 years in institutional investor relationship management and business development both domestically and internationally. He gained significant experience managing professional relationships with Chinese public and private institutions, government agencies, corporations and other organizations as the Director of Investor Services for the Asia region for CBRE Investors. Prior to that, as a Director in the commercial real estate lending group at AIG Investments in Los Angeles, he was responsible for originating and managing commercial real estate loans in the Northwest region of the US.  At PIMCO, he was relocated to Japan where he launched the region’s headquarters office and developed business in the region.

Jack earned his BA in Economics from UC Irvine, and his MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Anderson School at UCLA. He actively participated in study abroad programs both as an undergraduate at UCI (in Tokyo, Japan) and then as a graduate student at UCLA (in Shanghai, China).

Jack's role includes establishing and promoting collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, campus departments, and campus administrative officials, as well as external stakeholders, including US and Chinese counterparts, political dignitaries, business and law community advisors and donors.

The Institute wishes to thank Archie Kleingartner for his continued guidance and inspiration as a founding associated academic director of the John & Marilyn Long U.S.- China Institute for Business & Law at UC Irvine. He is also Professor-Emeritus at the Anderson School of Management and School of Public Affairs, University of California Los Angeles. He received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin in 1965. read more
