"7 Strategies for Entering & Exiting Conversations"
A big part of business networking happens around social events, conferences, etc. Sometimes the prospect of meeting people, making conversations, or interrupting conversations can seem quite daunting. Here we look at physical boundaries, how they work and how knowing that can make the process less awkward. Approaching complete strangers and introducing yourself is a group experience, which demonstrates how physical boundaries work and how even the shyest person can greet people well. Topics discussed include the entrance, the buddy system, locating accessible people, using nametags as a resource, opening lines, including versus intruding, and how to move on.
Kristen McAlister, FEMBA '03, Executive Vice President of Cerius Interim Executive Solutions will present the class.
This class is free, and open to Merage School MBA students and alumni from all programs, but you must register in advance - space is limited and registration is first come-first serve.
Parking Information: Parking is available on campus at the Social Sciences/MPAA Parking Structure. From Campus Drive, turn in toward the campus at the light at Stanford to immediately enter the parking structure. By-The-Hour ($2/hour) Parking Passes must be purchased at the machine located at the right lane entrance to the parking structure, just past the kiosk opening. The machine takes credit cards or cash (exact change required). You may park in any stall that does not have reserved signage. Please allow enough time to park and get to the classroom on time as a courtesy to our presenter.
