Job Description:
The VP Talent Management and Learning/Development has the leadership responsibility to articulate and ensure stakeholder support as well as drive effective implementation of the overall strategy for BD’s talent management processes of learning and development (BD University), HR planning/leadership development, career planning and development, talent acquisition, performance management, developmental 360 feedback and coaching. The VP Talent Management and Learning /Development supports and integrates the company’s associate engagement and inclusion/diversity strategies and actions into the integrated talent management efforts. The VP also ensures alignment and integration of these responsibilities and processes with overall BD, business, regional and functional strategies and goals. Serves as a resource and confidant to BD’s Senior Vice President, Human Resources on talent and organizational effectiveness issues.
Qualifications:

The VP Talent Management and Learning/Development must have 15 or more years of experience leading, creating, and facilitating leadership, learning, succession, performance management, talent acquisition, career development, related management, organizational development processes within a large, complex global organization.

High levels of resourcefulness, influence/organizational savvy, execution skills (strategy through implementation) as well as executive presence/impact are critical to the success of this individual. The VP must promote strong team interaction across the breadth of BD’s functional and business organization. He/She must be effective at sharing ideas and information with peers and business leaders. As such, the position requires strong relationship management skills.

The VP Talent Management must exhibit absolute familiarity with the cutting edge of current executive development, succession planning, talent identification, performance management, and executive recruiting strategies. However, it is also critical that this individual balances the strategic with the practical and has the ability to implement and drive execution.

He/she should have had international experience, or responsibility for a global function. Experience managing and developing a staff is vital. Experience working in a matrix environment where achieving buy-in through relationship building and influence is a critical competency.
