Dear Merage School Colleagues:
On Friday, May 18th, The UC Irvine Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
held the Final Presentation phase of the 2007 Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth
Business Plan Competition at The California Institute for Telecommunications
and Information Technology (Calit2). During this final event of the
competition, eight teams were selected by our judges to receive six awards
totaling $30,000 in cash prizes as well as five teams being selected to
participate in the Tech Coast Angels Seed Financing Invitational whereby
these teams will be considered for investment in their business ideas for
amounts up to $1,000,000. One team was selected by the public at large as
the winner of the first ever Orange County Register People’s Choice Poll Award.

Many people worked very hard to make the 2007 Stradling Yocca Carlson &
Rauth Business Plan Competition a success including our seven Advisory
Board members, seven workshop presenters, nineteen team coaches and
twenty-eight judges and my Corporate Relations colleagues. I would like
to provide a special mention of thanks to Greg Metzger and Hanna Na for
