Founding Members of the Dean’s Leadership Circle Honored
When the Dean’s Leadership Circle “DLC” was first chartered in April 2005, the very same
day when Paul Merage named the School, the goal was 50 charter members. A few months
later when the charter period closed there were 93 charter members! To commemorate
these charter members who will forever be recognized as the founding members of today’s
fastest growing support group on the UC Irvine campus, the Dean’s Leadership Circle at
the Merage School dedicated a beautiful new plaque with each charter member’s name. Now
the DLC has grown to an amazing 240 members within 2.5 years and has raised more than
$700,000 in its first two years alone! Over the next three years, the DLC has launched
a new campaign to raise $1.2 million to recruit a new, senior faculty member to the
School. While the DLC is not limited to Merage alumni, the DLC Executive Committee which
is lead by a dozen alumni leaders who work directly with the dean to designate funding
towards the highest priorities of the School, chose those that impact the rankings which
in turn help make the Merage degree more valuable for all of you who hold this
