Job Description:
We are seeking a Sr. Data Analyst to manage the daily operations of our dynamic Technology team. As a Sr. Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work in a challenging, fast paced, technology-driven environment on critical real world business problems. The work will entail data architecture, reporting and analysis, application of business knowledge, and the synthesis of information to drive actionable insights and executive decisions. The Sr. Data Analyst will have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally within the organization to drive process improvements, data/reporting consistency and integrated views of the business' key performance indicators.

  • Responsible for leading and driving a variety of Engineering financial, planning and project analysis projects including, Capex and headcount budgeting and resource planning, monthly Capex and headcount forecasting activities, as well as individual projects related to the delivery of technology in support of the Yahoo Search Marketing business objectives and priorities.

  • Responsible for assisting Senior Management in the design and creation of management reports and presentations.

  • Responsible for creating and/or utilizing existing Yahoo tools and processes for meeting the financial, planning and project analysis projects and will be partnering with the Engineering Managers, Technical Project Managers, and/or Program Managers in order to meet each project’s goals.

  • Manage Capex process, which includes reviewing, validating , and tracking all requests. Facilitate pre-HRC meetings and ensure all requests are within budgetary guidelines and meet current business requirements.

  • Manage multiple projects of significant business impact, scope, complexity and risk concurrently.

  • Lead special projects and update the departmental Twiki website as requested by Management.

  • Develop and track key Capex, headcount and financial metrics.

  • Participate in and/or lead cross-functional efforts, including defining projects and leading them from start to completion.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in a job requiring analytic skills, data-driven decision-making, and project management.

  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Access or any other database technologies, PowerPoint & Vision.

  • Qualified candidates will be analysts who are innovative, proven performers with a history of delivering effective reports, processes and data through analysis, project management and process improvement.

  • Candidates will have strong critical/conceptual thinking skills combined with the ability to synthesize information to see the big picture while effectively managing details.

  • They must also be self-starters with excellent communications and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed team environment, and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Candidates will have strong quantitative skills with proficiency in the MS Office suite of applications with strong to advanced skills in Excel from both an analytical and database tool perspective. Experience with Access, Visio, and Statistical Modeling packages are a strong plus.

  • Able to provide world-class service to our internal customers and Yahoo! corporate.

  • Knowledge of general accounting and corporate financial reporting is required.

  • Bachelor's degree required with preference toward analytical degree programs (e.g., Management Information Systems, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, etc.)

  • Background in Accounting/Finance preferred.

  • Internet/Tech industry preferred. MBA preferred.
