  • Healthcare - Sam King, HCEMBA '00, HFMA National Advisory Council and Chief AI Evangelist, AIMed - "Dr. AI Will See You Now: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Healthcare." The Artificial Intelligence (AI) revolution is here and everywhere. PwC research finds that close to 40 percent of U.S. jobs could be replaced by robots in the next 15 years. AI’s impacts and implications are shaping up the future of healthcare and enormous societal shifts. This interactive session will introduce the foundations of AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing using easy-to-understand and relatable examples. The emphasis will be on their practical applications in healthcare and how they transform personalized medicine and population health. The legal, ethical, moral, and future workforce concerns of AI will be addressed to better prepare healthcare professionals to ride the wave of the fourth industrial revolution. Attendees will learn to explain the concepts, trends and development in AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing in an easy-to-understand and relatable manner; discuss many practical and game-changing applications of AI in healthcare; describe how AI transforms the future of medicine and personalized patient care; and address legal, ethical, and moral concerns for AI in healthcare and their far-reaching implications on workforce replacement.

  • Business Innovation - Joannie Fu, MBA '00, Chief of Staff, Intel Programmable Solutions Engineering Group - Learn how a Silicon Valley technology company (Intel) has adapted their business model/pivot strategy in a constant changing world and how we can prepare ourselves to successfully ride the next waves of innovations.

Ryan Patel shares leadership lessons from his experience building a global brand, expanding into new markets, and empowering people.

  • Insight Marketing - Tom Wagner, MBA '89, retired marketing executive from PepsiCo and YUM! Brands, where he was Vice President of Consumer Insights & Brand Planning at Taco Bell - "A Peak Into Effective Insight-Driven Marketing."In today's world, effective marketing involves significantly more than a strong understanding of the four P's (product, price, promotion and place).  Sophisticated marketing organizations utilize a combination of techniques that rely heavily on Consumer Insights when marketing and promoting their products and services.  This breakout session introduces some of the highlights and practical applications of Insight-Driven Marketing. Tom Wagner also teaches "Insight Marketing" at the Merage School. Over his 25 year corporate career, Tom personally worked on over 2000+ new menu concepts and helped launch over 200+ national products and promotions.  This breakout promises to be both informative and fun!

  • Entrepreneur Alumni Panel - Gina Heitkamp, FEMBA '14, co-Founder at Middle School Moguls™; Ryan Huff, FEMBA '08, CEO & co-founder Cirrus Insight; and Cassandra Miller, EMBA '10, entrepreneur, speaker and consultant; Paul Tecker, EMBA '00, Founder H2OPS Water. Moderator: David Ochi, MBA '99, Interim Director, New Ventures at UCI Applied Innovation.
      
  • Innovation and Human-Centered Design - John Nhieu, MBA '09, Senior Managerial Consultant, Kaiser Permanente Health Innovation. Human Centered Design is a creative, interdisciplinary approach to problem solving that blends together art and science. Humanity is at the heart of healthcare and it is important to involve the human-perspective in the entire problem-solving process to ensure the solutions address individual pain points, needs and preferences. This break-out will explore the value of empathy, ethnography and engagement through a design lens applied across different industries. Come learn about design strategy, design principles and design tools and discover how they can be leveraged in your specific organization. You'll gain an innovative perspective on how to approach your business problems with your consumers participating in the journey. This session is interactive so come prepared to challenge yourself, be uncomfortable and let's design for innovation!
