Join us for the Asian/Pacific Islander Initiative Summit: "Empowering and Leading while Asian" at the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business. This inspiring event brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff, and corporate partners to foster API awareness and education. She is a #1 Amazon best-selling author, a #1 Udemy best-selling instructor, and a Harvard Business Review contributor. She has coached hundreds of students on how to network and stand out in ultra-competitive interviews, even if you’re an international student. Claire distills her unique methods from the advertising and movie industries and draws on 10 years of experience working with executives at Fortune 500 companies. Anurag Mathur currently is in Business Development at Amazon, focusing on contract negotiations with global media companies to being their content, services and apps to Amazon devices. Prior to Amazon, Anu served as Senior Marketing Director for Disney, ABC and ESPN Media Networks and Direct of Marketing for AT&T U-verse. He specializes in monetization, sports and entertainment and is currently working on developing products for Subscription Bundles and Shoppable TV. Anu received his undergraduate degree from UCLA and is a Merage School Alum as well.

 

 

 

 

 


David Oh

David M. Oh

Executive Vice President, Institutional Business Development
PIMCO

David leads sales of equity strategies with institutional and consultant/OCIO relationships in the Americas, and also institutional sales for the full range of strategies with U.S. corporate relationships. David previously co-led U.S. institutional business development across institutional channels, and managed relationships with corporations and healthcare organizations. He has worked with strategies across asset classes including fixed income, Alts (private credit, RE), and equities. He also previously focused on institutional client servicing for U.S. healthcare clients.

Prior to joining PIMCO in 2011, David founded and built a healthcare services company, and was a senior account manager with IBM. He was also an associate and analyst with JP Morgan’s investment banking division, with experiences across M&A, debt capital markets, and corporate finance.

David is the founder of PIMCO LEAP, and serves as a board director of Ascend OC.

David holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and undergraduate degrees in mathematical methods in the social sciences and economics from Northwestern University.

 

 


Stella Zhang

Stella Zhang was born and raised in China and earned her MBA from the University of California, Irvine, in 2005. Since 2011, Stella has served as the Chief Operating Officer of American Lending Center Holdings Group, driving the company through a period of remarkable growth and notable achievements. She is also a cofounder of Sunstone Management, a diversified private capital firm based in Southern California that invests in private credit and early-stage technology startups. As of 2024, both companies have been recognized on the INC5000 list as some of the fastest-growing companies in the United States.

During the growth phase, Stella has been instrumental in managing and coordinating investment immigration and loan projects nationwide. Her leadership and strategic vision have been key to the success of these ventures. In recognition of her significant contributions to the industry, Stella received the Coleman Emerging Leader Award in Lending in 2017, presented by the esteemed Coleman Report.

Stella is a firm advocate of "giving back." Since graduating from UCI, she has remained deeply engaged with and supportive of the school and the broader community. She has been the title sponsor for UCI’s New Venture Competition since 2020, a program designed to provide a platform for student entrepreneurs dedicated to creating transformative business concepts and improving the world. In 2023, Stella was honored as a Distinguished Alumna and received the Lauds and Laurels Award from the UCI Alumni Association.

With her extensive experience and proven leadership in operational management, Stella continues to be an invaluable asset to the companies she leads and a source of inspiration to the communities she serves.

 

 


Holly Jane Sy

Holly Jane Sy, affectionately known as the “intern who never left” Disney, embarked on her journey through Disney's College Program and steadily advanced through various roles in the company. From Disney Visa's Corporate Marketing Analytics & Finance to Disney Channel’s Marketing Strategy & Analytics to her current role in Disney Kids Entertainment Research, Insights & Analytics. Holly's career is characterized by her passion for storytelling through data, and partnering with key stakeholders to guide strategic and creative decisions (currently within YouTube). Her expertise in social media analytics and her drive to distill information led to her promotion into the Social Analytics role and subsequent expansions within the team.

Holly also plays a pivotal role in advocating for the AAPI community as former Co-Chairman of IMPACT, Disney’s largest AAPI Employee Resource group, focusing on representation, education, and visibility. Her personal journey is marked by resilience and a commitment to positive change, drawing from her family's history and her own experiences with cultural identity and trauma.

She is a proud UCI alumnus having obtained degrees in Business Administration and Public Health, a recent graduate of the UCLA Executive MBA program, where she was nominated and served as DEI Class Representative. Holly's served on several panels including VidCon (June '22), UC SIEML (May '22), Anderson Diversity Week (Nov '22), and many at Disney during the Asian hate crime wave in 2021.

In her free time, Holly is an absolute wellness enthusiast - a yoga and sculpt instructor on weekends (going on 10 years!). She finds strength and connection through movement, music, meditation and community. She strives to be the best, most confident version of herself, and inspires others to do the same through her classes.
