Beall Center’s New Venture Competition Sees Record-Breaking Number of Entries

The UCI New Venture Competition (NVC), powered by the Beall Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Merage School and by UCI Applied Innovation, has reported a record-breaking 98 entries, approximately 400 participants in all, for the 2018 competition. To accommodate all of the exciting new venture opportunities, the program has added an additional competition track, bringing the total number of tracks to five, which include: Consumer Products, Consumer Services, Business Products and Services, Life Sciences, and Social Enterprise.

The final pitch in the New Venture Competition will take place on May 18, when more than $100,000 in prize money will be awarded. 

The UCI New Venture Competition is an annual, campus-wide initiative that is open to every school, program, and graduate level at the university. Participants learn by doing as they network with industry at mixers, apply what they learn in the classroom to a real-world application, and develop important experience such as working in cross-functional, collaborative team environment. The New Venture Competition is sponsored by UCI Applied Innovation, Edwards Lifesciences, UCI Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation, Irvine Company, Niagara Bottling Company and Stradling Attorneys at Law.  Click here to find out more.
