A total of 54 teams will be heading into the final round of the 2018 New Venture Competition (NVC) presented by the Beall Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and UCI Applied Innovation, where they will compete for more than $100,000 on May 18 at the Merage School.  See the list of winning teams here.

“I love the NVC because it embodies everything we’re learning into one hands-on project,” said Linda Kang, FEMBA ’19, who is a member Team Dyddio, one of the finalist teams in the 2018 competition.

This year, the NVC reported a record-breaking 98 entries, approximately 400 participants in all.  To accommodate all of the exciting new venture opportunities, the program added an additional competition track, bringing the total number of tracks to five, including: Consumer Products, Consumer Services, Business Products and Services, Life Sciences, and Social Enterprise.

The UCI New Venture Competition is an annual, campus-wide initiative that is open to every school, program, and graduate level at the university. Participants learn by doing as they network with industry at mixers, apply what they learn in the classroom to a real-world application, and develop important experience such as working in cross-functional, collaborative team environment. The New Venture Competition is sponsored by UCI Applied Innovation, Edwards Lifesciences, UCI Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation, Irvine Company, Niagara Bottling Company, Stradling Attorneys at Law, and Youngry.  Click here to find out more.
