April 26, 2023 • By The UCI Paul Merage School of Business

The UCI Paul Merage School of Business is pleased to present the third annual Black Management Association (BMA) Conference Innovate23 at the Merage School auditorium on May 6, 2023. This year's conference, "The Black Innovation Summit," will showcase a lineup of renowned business leaders who will discuss how innovation drives success in today's dynamic business environment.

As part of the event, BMA is proud to partner with KIA Motors to sponsor the first-ever KIA Mobility Pitch Competition, open to all UCI students. This competition offers teams the opportunity to receive guidance and support to develop and present their innovative business ideas. On May 5, 2023, finalists will present their 3-minute pitch to a panel of judges, with a chance to win $2,500 to help fund their idea.

Innovate23 will provide a dynamic forum focused on business impact through continual innovation, creativity and strategy. The program features successful business leaders, including keynote speaker Anthony K. Jones, retired Sr. VP of Operations at CommonSpirit Health, a Dean's Advisory Board member, and UCI Board of Trustees member.

The day will culminate with an awards luncheon to celebrate the successes of the BMA community. The Excellence Award for Startup of the Year, the Bradford Entrepreneur of the Year, BMA Alumni Partner of the Year, and the Bradford Fellow Awardees will be recognized, along with the winners of the KIA Pitch Competition. The event serves as an opportunity to network with professionals and celebrate the achievements of the Black business community.
