Kara Duckworth, CFP®, CDFA®, a client advisor at Mercer Advisors, has been appointed by the Executive Committee of the Center for Investment and Wealth Management (CIWM) at UCI’s Paul Merage School of Business to serve a three year term as co-chair of the CIWM alongside Shawnette Gauer, managing director at Schwab Advisor Services.
“We are honored to have Kara’s expertise and talent helping to direct our Center’s mission of delivering innovative financial education for all,” said CIWM Faculty Director and Finance Professor Christopher G. Schwarz.
Duckworth began her wealth management career in 1998. Prior to joining Mercer Advisors, she served as a principal, chief compliance officer, and wealth manager at Duckworth Wealth Advisors, an independent Registered Investment Advisory firm. In her current role, Duckworth provides comprehensive planning services to high-net-worth clients, helping them achieve their financial goals.
“The most rewarding part of my job is helping my clients achieve their dreams,” said Duckworth. “And, it’s not just the clients I serve in a professional capacity. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to serve a different kind of client at the CIWM where I have the honor of providing guidance to our community’s underserved, helping them achieve their dreams.”
Duckworth earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and is a member of the Financial Planning Association. She is a founding advisory board member of the CIWM and has served as the chair for the Center’s LIFEvest Financial Literacy Program for underserved teens for over five years.
“Kara has been an invaluable asset to UCI and to the Center for Investment and Wealth Management. She has served tirelessly in pursuit of financial literacy for teens from underserved communities. Our Center’s LIFEvest Financial Literacy Program, now in its 8th year, would not be the program it is today without her passion and commitment to giving back to the community,” said Laurie Dubchansky, CFP ®, Founder and CEO Havaplan Financial and current chair for LIFEvest Financial Literacy Program.
