“This ranking confirms what we already knew: The Merage School is on an upward trajectory,” says Dean Eric Spangenberg.

Merage School Reaches No. 29 in New Times Higher Education/Wall Street Journal Ranking

Irvine, CA - (December 06, 2018) - The UCI Paul Merage School of Business’s Full-Time MBA program has been ranked No. 29 in the world among two-year MBA programs in an inaugural Times Higher Education/Wall Street Journal analysis of master’s programs in business.

“This ranking confirms what we already knew: The Merage School is on an upward trajectory,” says Dean Eric Spangenberg. “The value of a Merage School degree continues to rise, both for our alumni and our students, not to mention the organizations who are fortunate enough to hire our graduates.”

“The high ranking reflects the one-of-a-kind, personal experience that we create for every student,” Spangenberg adds. “Graduates finish our programs with strong employment prospects and significant salary increases. Just as we are continually reinventing business education, our students are reinventing themselves as they matriculate in The Paul Merage School of Business. They emerge as innovators, prepared to overcome the ever-changing business challenges in today’s digitally driven world.”

The analysis used new metrics that focused on teaching excellence and the student experience. It was based on four pillars: resources, engagement, outcomes and environment. The pillars accounted for the faculty resources available to students, the quality of teaching and research, salary increases, and the diversity of the environment on campus, including the number of international students and their economic diversity.

The Merage School ranked No. 4 in environment, reflecting the school’s diverse international student body, field-leading proportion of female faculty and commitment to offering access to a top-ranked business education for students from all socioeconomic backgrounds.

There were 134 business schools that participated in the ranking, of which 114 had programs that were ranked. The analysis relied on surveys from more than 23,300 alumni from the classes of 2012, 2013 and 2015. It also looked at admissions, enrollment and employment data for the classes graduating in 2015 and 2016, along with tuition and scholarship information.

The Merage School’s rankings have also risen in Bloomberg Businessweek and The Economist.
