Irvine, CA - (April 11, 2022) -

The Paul Merage School of Business will hold a commencement celebration for the graduating class of 2022 at the Bren Events Center on Monday, June 13. Gary Acosta, co-founder and CEO of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), will address the graduating class of over 900 students during this special celebration.

With 40,000 members from 100 chapters, NAHREP is a key professional organization for the Latinx community. In his role as CEO, Acosta jump-started the Hispanic Wealth Project, a nonprofit organization with the mission to triple Hispanic household wealth by 2024.

“I am delighted and honored to address the class of 2022,” said Acosta. “These students were able to thrive and achieve so much despite the challenge of the pandemic.”

In addition to NAHREP and the Hispanic Wealth Project, Acosta is the co-founder of L’ATTITUDE and L’ATTITUDE Ventures, the nation’s largest venture capital fund exclusively focused on Latinx led start-ups. As a serial entrepreneur, Acosta has founded several mortage, real estate and tech companies such as New Vista Asset Management, CounselorMax and RealEstateEspanol.com, an online real estate portal for Spanish-speaking Americans which was eventually sold to a publicly traded company.

“Gary is a local leader and we are delighted to have him as our distinguished commencement speaker,” said Dean Ian. O Williamson. “At the Merage School our number one goal is to expand access to a world-class business education, similar to the way that Gary is opening the doors for Latinx entrepreneurs and future business leaders.”

Acosta serves on the board of directors for NAHREP, the Latino Donor Collaborative and The Mortgage Collaborative and is a former member of the board of directors of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America and Stewart Title Company of California. He has served on advisory boards for several Fortune 500 companies including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and JP Morgan Chase. Acosta grew up in Montebello, California and attended the University of California, at San Diego and Pomona College, where he played varsity basketball for future Hall of Fame Coach, Gregg Popovich.
