Before joining the Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MIE) program at UC Irvine, I completed my undergraduate studies in Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University, where I developed a passion for exploring different cultures through language. I’ve also had the opportunity to study abroad at Osaka University and serve as an International Youth Ambassador under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, promoting cross-cultural exchange and global friendships. I chose the MIE program for its focus on innovation, hands-on learning, and entrepreneurial mindset, which I believe will help me turn creative ideas into meaningful ventures. As I work toward graduation, I’m excited to explore opportunities where I can make an impact through innovation and collaboration with like-minded peers. Outside of school, I enjoy martial arts like boxing and jiujitsu, photography, cooking, and connecting with others as a student ambassador.

Hi, I’m Claire! I was born and raised in Korea and have also lived in Canada and the U.S., experiences that shaped my global perspective and creativity. I served six years in the U.S. Navy, primarily as a medic alongside Marines, and completed my degree online at Liberty University while on active duty. Since separating from the military in December 2023, I’ve focused on entrepreneurship and discovered my passion in the pet industry, developing a patent-pending product. I chose UC Irvine’s Master of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MIE) program for its supportive, hands-on approach to helping entrepreneurs grow and succeed, as well as for its welcoming campus culture and vibrant community. My goal is to expand my pet product business while connecting with mentors and like-minded peers through the Merage network. Outside of school, I enjoy exploring Southern California with my dogs, surfing and snorkeling with my wife, basketball, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, open water swimming, sailing, and snowboarding. A fun fact about me is that I’ve rappelled down a 300-foot cliff with a patient in the military and once skied 100 miles in four days carrying 100 pounds.
