¡Hola Hola! I’m Daniela Aguirre, a data enthusiast who thrives on transforming numbers into meaningful insights. Before beginning the MSBA program, I co-founded and served as VP of Finance for an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs across Ecuador and Latin America, and I’ve also worked as a Marketing Specialist—analyzing campaign performance and market trends—as well as a Sustainable Finance Intern, evaluating the social and environmental impact of investments. My journey has taken me from Ecuador to Switzerland, and now to the U.S., where I’m honored to be the first recipient of the Merage Scholarship for Latin America. I’m passionate about using data and technology to drive business innovation; fun fact: when I’m not analyzing data, you’ll find me at the university gym, my go-to place to recharge, stay active, and clear my mind! Before joining the MSBA program, I spent around 10 years in the CPG industry primarily working in business operations, supply chain, and marketing both in Japan and the US. During this time, I became fascinated by the role data plays in driving business success. The process of developing business insights, forming hypotheses, and analyzing data to uncover deeper understanding was the most exciting part of my work, which ultimately led me to pursue the MSBA degree. The 6-month capstone project was a key factor in my decision, as it provided the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills I gained in the classroom to real-world challenges. Having lived in Irvine for 5 years, I’ve come to truly love the area, which includes excellent weather, safety, and rich diversity. My goal is to take on a data-oriented role, such as an operational analyst, business analyst, or supply chain analyst, where I can utilize my business expertise. I want to be a bridge between business and data by combining the technical skills with my business knowledge I have acquired through my career and this program. My hobbies include going on road trips and visiting new places, spending time in nature (there are lots of great national parks in the US), playing and watching baseball (Go Angels and Dodgers!), and learning new things.

Before starting the program, I worked in sales, navigating the fast-paced world of corporate strategy. I specialized in client engagement, cross-department collaboration, and data analysis, using tools like Salesforce and Tableau to drive growth and boost productivity. As someone who is passionate about data, I was drawn to the program’s emphasis on analytics, leadership, and real-world application (capstone project). The opportunity to learn from industry leaders and collaborate with a diverse cohort really stood out to me. My career goal is to have a successful career in analytics or consulting. I also have experience dabbling in my own creative media pursuits as I’ve hosted a podcast for seven seasons. Right now, I’m a Global Marketing Specialist at DKSH, where I took my first big leap into the business world. I manage databases for thousands of products across 15 countries, which has opened my eyes to how critical business is in every industry. The UCI Paul Merage School of Business MSBA program got my attention because it is the perfect blend—50% hardcore skills like Python, SQL, and R, and 50% solid business management knowledge. It’s designed for those ready to challenge themselves and explore new directions. Working for Disney has always been a childhood dream of mine! Hi, I’m Samara! Growing up Half Cuban-Half Armenian, I learned the definition of diversity at a young age. Living in the center of the melting pot, I found my love for connecting with people from different cultures. Hi, I’m Ivy! My journey before starting the MSBA program at UCI was quite special as I completed my MBA in Finance at Gonzaga University right before entering this program. With professional experience in financial analysis and business development, I believe the combination of my MBA and this MSBA program will equip me with unique skills in finance and data analytics to drive sound strategic business decisions. I chose the UCI Paul Merage School of Business because of its extensive professional resources, strong alumni network, and inclusive community that I can leverage to progress in my career. The MSBA program particularly stood out for me for its flexible curriculum tracks and capstone project. I love exploring coffee and boba shops since there is something about the atmosphere that helps me work better, even with all the noise! While I’m usually not very patient, I can spend many hours crocheting keychains and plushies. Hello, my name is Vincent Leonel Perez, and I am proud to be a first-generation Latino college student from South Central, Los Angeles. I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Business Analytics with a focus on Operations Analytics. Prior to this, I completed my undergraduate studies at UCI, where I had the opportunity to engage in research and collaborate with outstanding professors. These experiences helped me build a solid foundation in business information systems and analytics, preparing me for this program. I chose the UCI Paul Merage School of Business because of the vast opportunities, network, and connections it offers to its students. Irvine is rapidly becoming a hub for technology and analytics, especially in industries like healthcare and finance, making it an ideal environment for professional growth. I’m Viraj Vijaywargiya, an international student from India. I consider Singapore as my second home, having lived there for about ten years. I completed my undergrad degree in Data Science at UC Irvine, where I discovered my passion for turning numbers into stories that drive decisions. Beyond academics, I served as the VP of Technology for the Math Finance Club, Captain/Choreographer for UCI Zamana (UCI's Premier Bollywood Dance Team), and Vice Captain of the UCI Cricket Team. I also have industry experience as a Data Science Intern at Impetus, where I analyzed large datasets and developed machine learning models to improve predictive accuracy. I chose the MSBA program at UCI because it offers the best of both worlds: an innovative curriculum at the intersection of business and data science, and a vibrant community that supports professional growth. My career goal is to become a Data Scientist, with a focus on Big Data and AI/ML. I’m fascinated by how data can fuel innovation and help businesses make smarter decisions.
