The UC Irvine Flex MBA offers an academically rigorous program with a schedule that can be tailored to fit your busy life. Refine your skills as a leader and innovator with instruction by the Merage School’s world-class faculty. Choose fully online or on-campus courses while building connections through collaborative projects and hands-on experiences. New cohorts begin in winter, spring and summer quarters.
International Residential
Learn Abroad
Push yourself outside of your comfort zone--experience the business and cultural dynamic of a foreign country with the highlight of the program, the International Residential. In the Flex MBA program you have the opportunity to travel internationally for our most popular experiential. On this one week trip you will be exposed to global business markets and cultures.

A flexible schedule does not mean your MBA needs to take a long time. New programs launch every winter, spring and fall quarter. Each quarter, you can choose between taking classes online or on campus as your schedule allows.
On Campus
Students who elect to begin their program on campus, core classes are conveniently held two evenings per week from 7:00-9:50 pm. Enjoy the added benefits of collaborating in person with colleagues and experiencing UC Irvine’s vibrant campus life.
Online
Students who choose online classes attend live (synchronous) classes online four Saturdays per quarter from 8:30-11:20 am. and then from 1:00-3:50 pm. Remaining coursework is delivered asynchronously through lectures, videos, and chats. Access asynchronous content as your schedule permits.

Students must complete a minimum of 19 courses, including 9 core courses, 7 electives, and 3 offsite experiential residentials. The following schedule reflects a fall quarter start.

Flex MBA Immersions
Immersions offer students opportunities to go deeper into specialized areas of study. Learn the principles that are driving today’s most transformational business trends.
Digital Transformation
The immersion in Digital Transformation prepares students to lead innovation within their organizations to compete in a digitized world. Students dive deep into the economics of the digital world and how they alter competition and business strategy. You will learn how to analyze technology-enabled change and how to leverage digital technologies within established businesses and startups. Completion of the MBA immersion requires 4+ academic courses and participating in the Center for Digital Transformation’s annual Road to Reinvention conference.
Health Care Management and Policy
The immersion in Healthcare Management and Policy prepares you to excel in today’s complex healthcare business environment. Developed and administered with the Merage School’s Center for Health Care Management and Policy, this immersion builds on the Center’s mission to engage its partners in collaborative education, research and community service programs. You will develop a deep understanding of not only the underlying economics of healthcare, but also the policies, regulations and institutions that impact healthcare markets. Students at the Merage School can earn the MBA immersion in Healthcare Management and Policy by successfully completing a set of key electives and participating in the Center’s annual Health Care Forecast Conference.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The immersion in Innovation and Entrepreneurship prepares students who are either planning to or have already embarked on a career as an entrepreneur (innovating to form new companies) or an intrapreneur (innovating within existing companies). The Beall Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship provides you with academic and practical training to gain a solid understanding of launching or growing a business in today’s competitive environment. Earn the MBA immersion in Innovation and Entrepreneurship by participating in the Merage School New Venture Competition and completing key electives focused on entrepreneurship and innovation.
Real Estate and Urban Development
The MBA immersion in Real Estate and Urban Development provides you the practical skills and theories needed to succeed in an ever-changing marketplace. The Center for Real Estate provides world-class resources and research to future leaders and entrepreneurs working in real estate, with a focus on the pursuit of emerging best practices in the real estate profession. Learn from the Center’s holistic approach to real estate, drawing from the lessons of past cycles and current trends in order to best prepare you for your career in real estate. Earn this MBA immersion through successful completion of five academic courses focused on real estate.

MGMT FE 200. Thinking Strategically in the Digital Age for Managers
Focuses on the strategic and organizational challenges that a rapidly changing environment poses to the firm’s management and frames them according to the Merage School’s strategic emphasis on analytical decision making, innovation, and information technology.
MGMT FE 201A. Business Analytics: Decision-Making for Managers
Methods of statistical inference, emphasizing applications to administrative and management decision problems. Topics include classical estimation, hypothesis testing, regression, correlation, analysis of variance, decision analysis, and forecasting.
MGMT FE 202. Organizational Leadership for Managers
Develops a better understanding of individual and group behavior in and across organizations; the frameworks by which to analyze and understand behavior in complex organizations; and enhances the skills required to manage collaboration and lead.
MGMT FE 203A. Financial Reporting for Managers
Involves the development, analysis, and interpretation of financial accounting information for external reporting purposes. Emphasis on measurement and valuation issues in decision-making problems and cases.
MGMT FE 204A. Microeconomics for Managers in the Digital Age
Provides basic tools for analyzing economic decisions, the determinants and consequences of market structure and market failure. Topics include demand and supply analysis, production and cost theory, perfect competition, monopoly, and introductory game theory.
MGMT FE 205. Marketing Management
Introduction to marketing. Develops familiarity with fundamental concepts, theories, and techniques in marketing and acquaints students with the type of decisions made by marketing managers including customer targeting, product, pricing, placement, promotion, and research.
MGMT FE 207. Competing with Digital
Focuses on the technological and managerial issues surrounding the development and use of IT in organizations. Examines how technology can be used to execute an organization's business strategy and to enable new, innovative business strategies.
MGMT FE 208. Operational Excellence: Processes, Principles, and Analytics
Introduction to strategic and tactical issues in production and operations management. Blend of quantitative and qualitative considerations. Topics include product planning, process design, capacity management, production planning, inventory control, distribution management, just-in-time manufacturing, quality management.
MGMT FE 209A. Finance for Managers
Introduces students to financial theory and concepts. Topics include time value of money, valuation of stocks and bonds, capital budgeting, portfolio theory, and capital structure choice.
MGMT FE 210. Strategy for Managers: Foundations and Dynamics
Provides conceptual frameworks and techniques to analyze and develop firm strategies. Through case analysis and discussion, helps improve strategic thinking by developing frameworks by which to assess, evaluate, and respond to different business situations.
