Chetan (Chet) Lakhani joined Paul Merage School of Business in 2010. He is also a management consultant specializing in the areas of corporate turnarounds, profitability/shareholder value improvement programs, and M&As. More recently, he served as a CFO with a portfolio company of a major Private Equity firm. There, he helped engineered a turnaround of the Company and increased its EBITDA by more than 200%. Mr. Lakhani implemented the required financial controls, cost reduction and profit improvements programs; and helped manage the sale of the Company twice; realizing the ultimate sale price of more than 3 times from its initial valuation.

He has held Senior Level Management and Corporate Officer/VP level positions with several Fortune 500 companies including Flying Tigers Airline (currently part of Federal Express), Smith International (now owned by Schlumberger), AST Computer & BAX Global. There he was responsible for managing diverse functional areas including Information & Technology areas, Manufacturing Planning, Financial Planning & Analysis, M&As and Strategic Planning.

Lakhani received an MBA in Finance from Indiana University; and attended Kellogg School of Business of Northwestern University for his Post-MBA course work. He also holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin; and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Poona from Pune, India.

Lakhani was a board member and served as President of Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) of the Orange County Chapter, a premier M&A international Organization. He also served as a board member of the Development Disabilities Center (DDC) of Orange County, a $40 million non-profit health-care agency, under the contract from the State of California. He also served as a Board Member to oversee Flying Tigers’ multi-million dollar pension/retirement plan of ALPA (Airline Pilot Association). At Chemetron Corporation, he was a Board Member of its employees’ Credit Union. Additionally, Lakhani served as an advisory Board Member on several start-up technology firms. He was also a Board of Director for JES Holdings, Limited based in Hong Kong. He was also nominated to serve as a Director on IKOS System’s Board by Mentor Graphics in its proxy fight to acquire IKOS.

He has published a paper on pricing strategy “Dynamic Price Models for New-Product Planning” in Management Science.
