Research Interest

Emotion and Affect with a focus on shared affect in groups.

Dr. Seung-Yoon Rhee is an Assistant Professor at the College of Business Administration, Hongik University. She holds BBA and MS degrees in Business Administration from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea, and a PhD degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Dr. Rhee’s primary research interests are in the area of emotion and affect with a focus on shared affect in groups. She has published book chapters and journal articles on the impact of shared positive or negative affect on group member interactions, and in turn, group creativity and decision quality. Her research also focuses on the ways in which individuals build energizing relationships at the workplace. She also uses a social network approach in understanding group processes, shared affect, and group performance.

Dr. Rhee received an outstanding research award and was recognized for her innovative teaching at KAIST Business School. She received a best dissertation-based paper award by Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management. She is also the recipient of research grants from National Research Foundation of Korea and Korea Institute of Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning. Dr. Rhee has organized several symposia and has presented papers at the Academy of Management, Asia Academy of Management, Positive Organizational Scholarship Conference, and Korean Academy of Management.
