Sougata received his PhD in Economics from Center for Operations Research and Econo (CORE) at the Universite Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. Sougata has taught Economics leading universities worldwide for several years. He had held faculty positions at the Universtiy of Copenhagen in Denmark, National University of Singapore (NUS), IGIDR in In in South Korea, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore, Auckl Technology (AUT) in New Zealand, and University of Redlands and Chapman

His areas of research interest are in Applied Microeconomic Theory and Indus published widely in the Copyright Issues and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR Piracy, Patent Licensing in Spatial Models, and Competition Policy. His public Economic Theory, Economics Letters, International Journal of Industrial Orga Economic Papers, European Journal of Political Economy, Economics Record, Review of Industrial Organization and in many others. He was a guest editor o Review and New Zealand Economic papers.

Presently, Sougata's main research focus is to understand and analyze the im behavior, firm strategies, emerging technologies and technology trends in th of firms and organizations; and its relation to Copyright, IPR policy and Innov
