With a focus on inclusive excellence, our mission is to expand and diversify the pipeline of talented leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs in Southern California by investing in today’s brilliant students.
The Merage School Future Leaders Initiative (FLI) equips underserved Southern California students with business education, financial literacy, and career preparation. Through in-person courses, FLI enhances college readiness and supports careers in business, technology, and entrepreneurship with UC Irvine’s expert faculty and resources.
Program Dates
The FLI Program will have six in-person, full day sessions at UC Irvine.

Program Objectives
Low financial literacy threatens the future of underserved communities. The Merage School prioritizes access to financial and business education for long-term success. FLI focuses on financial literacy and tech-driven business careers to empower families and strengthen the economy.
Student success is built through learning and mentorship that embraces diverse backgrounds. The Paul Merage School of Business focuses on this core theme: to provide opportunities that enhance the social and economic well-being of our students’ diverse communities.

The Merage School has partnered with Google to take the FLI program to the next level, providing key resources to shape leaders in today’s digital landscape. Alongside sessions on Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital, Innovation, Real Estate, and Health Care, FLI students will now gain access to Google Career Certificates in fields such as Data Analytics, Digital Marketing and E-commerce, IT Support, Project Management, and User Experience Design, equipping them with in-demand skills for the future.
