“We are at a crossroads,” said Vijay Gurbaxani, founding director of the Center for Digital Transformation (CDT) and the Taco Bell Endowed Professor of Information Systems and Computer Science. “Technology is extraordinarily powerful and can lead to fantastic things for society and the economy. But, we have to manage the risks. It is incumbent upon every one of us to lead this change responsibly,” he stated in his opening remarks at the 2018 Road to Reinvention conference.
Vijay Gurbaxani, director of the Center for Digital Transformation, professor of Information Systems and Taco Bell Chair at the Merage School, along with J. Rick Lemoine, from Sharp Healthcare, and Keith Strier, from Ernst and Young, and risk control expert Julian Heath shared their insight with leaders in involved in the international blood supply chain.
For the first time, a team of Full Time MBA students from the Merage School will be headed to the final round of the HKUST Global MBA Challenge to be held in Hong Kong in April. Team members, from the class of 2019, include Matt Morris, Swamy Narayanaswamy, Summer Hu, and Karen Ning, FTMBA ’19 will compete for up to $20,000 in prize money.
The UCI New Venture Competition (NVC), powered by the Beall Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Merage School and by UCI Applied Innovation, has reported a record-breaking 98 entries, approximately 400 participants in all, for the 2018 competition.
