Proudly presented by UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business in partnership with The Claire Trevor School of the Arts, the Certificate in Presentation Design is an interactive, 8-week, online program led by faculty and industry leaders.
This program includes live Zoom sessions with faculty and industry leaders for each educational module. The dates are listed in the program schedule dropdown below. All sessions are recorded and will be posted on the course website for your convenience.
A business practical program designed for professionals in all fields who are required to conceptualize, design, refine and execute top-notch presentations to groups both small and large.

Module 1: Design and Delivery Fundamentals for Presenters
October 11 - October 24
Live Module: October 20 5:30-6:30pm PST
Core concepts in presenting, crafting a narrative, examining structure of stories, etc. Students will identify a presentation they will work on for their Capstone.
Module 2: Presenting Using Digital Tools
October 25 – November 7
Live Module: October 29 5:30-7:00pm PST
Introduction to various presentation tools. Students will be asked to explore a tool that they will use for their capstone. Students will submit short, visual snippets of their planned presentation using one of the suggested tools.
Module 3: Presenting in a Digitally Driven World
November 8 – November 21
Live Module: November 17 5:30-6:30pm PST
Specifics of presenting to a business audience. Students will be given short presentation assignments (e.g. present a quarterly sales report). Students will also analyze successful and unsuccessful presentations.
Module 4: Capstone Project
November 29 – December 12
Live Module: TBD, 2 hour session
Apply the concepts from Modules 1-3 and incorporate these new skills into a final presentation. This module is dedicated to giving and receiving feedback on individual’s presentations.
Andrea Caban Associate Director Knight-Thompson Speechwork
Andrea is the Associate Director and designated Master Teacher of Knight-Thompson Speechwork™, an Associate Professor and Head of Voice & Speech at Cal State University, Long Beach, and a presentation coach for Google executives, College Presidents, CEOs, and CFOs in contexts as large as a TED talk at the Dolby Theatre, and as small as a job interview over internet conference software.
She has been on faculty at UC Irvine and CSU Fullerton, and has been guest faculty at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney, University of Cape Town, Penn State University, and the MotherTongue Project in Cape Town, South Africa, among others.
An award-winning scholar and author, she has performed and presented research at conferences and institutions internationally.
