Admissions Process
The Executive MBA (EMBA) program at the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business is built for professionals ready to elevate their career trajectory and expand their strategic value. Our application process is personal, straightforward, and designed to recognize your experience, potential, and goals. You’ll join a selective group of senior professionals on a rigorous and rewarding journey — one that balances flexibility with impact, and personal growth with professional acceleration.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
What We Look For
Admission is based on a holistic review of each candidate’s professional achievements, academic background, and ability to contribute to the EMBA community.
10+ years of work experience (minimum 8 preferred)
Experience in a management, supervisor, or lead role
Defined goals and ambition to increase professional impact
Willingness to collaborate and share insights in a peer-focused environment
GLOBAL STUDENTS
International Application Requirements
Approximately 20% of EMBA students come from outside the U.S. We welcome the global perspectives they bring to the classroom.
Active employment during the program is required
TOEFL (iBT) score of 80+ required if your degree was not taught in English
Applicants submitting transcripts from non-U.S. universities should include evidence of degree conferral (proof of graduation: please upload your diploma if not referenced on the transcript) as well as all transcripts or marksheets to the application.
If you are interested in the F-1 student visa option, consider that EMBA students must have active employment while in the program.

Two letters of recommendation
Personal statement responding to:
“What do you want to achieve in your professional life? What have you already done to get there, and how do you think the Merage School can help you achieve your goals?”
Optional: additional statement to address any unique circumstances
$150 nonrefundable application fee
A personal interview may be requested by invitation

APPLY ON TIME
Deadlines
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed as they are received. The earlier you apply, the better your opportunity to be considered for scholarships.
Once your completed application is submitted, you’ll receive a decision within approximately three weeks. All applicants are automatically considered for scholarships.
