Assistant Professor of Teaching
Dr. Kenneth (Ken) E. Murphy is an Assistant Professor of Teaching of Operations and Decision Technologies at the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California Irvine. He holds a PhD in Operations Research from Carnegie Mellon University, MS in Statistics from Oregon State University, and BA in Mathematics from Reed College. His experience as a teacher, researcher and administrator spans 25 years and four universities.
Dr. Murphy teaches business analytics, operations management and statistics courses in the executive, graduate and undergraduate business programs. He has published in scheduling, technology implementation and organizational effectiveness in Operations Research, Naval Research Logistics, Communications of the ACM and Information Systems Journal among others.
Dr. Murphy possesses significant senior leadership experience having served as associate provost and assistant dean at his former institution. In this role, he provided guidance and direction for process improvement and business analytics initiatives at the University with the goal of building a data driven decision-making culture in the academic context.
